Decrypt files
Remove copy, print and edit restrictions from PDFs that open without a password. For PDFs and ZIP files that need a password to open, enter the password and get copies that open without it. This tool does not recover forgotten passwords: it never guesses. Your files and your password never leave your device.
How to use Decrypt files
- Choose the restricted or password-protected PDFs or ZIP files.
- If a file needs a password to open, type it. PDFs that open without a password need nothing.
- Download the unrestricted or unlocked copies.
Questions
Is Decrypt files free in PDFMoose?
Yes. It is free in PDFMoose, with no account, no watermark and no daily task limit.
Are my files or my password uploaded?
No. Everything happens in your browser, so your files and your password stay on your device.
Can it remove copy and print restrictions from a PDF?
Yes, when the PDF opens without a password. You do not need to type anything: the restrictions are removed and you get a copy you can print, copy from and edit.
Can it open a ZIP or PDF if I forgot the password?
No. It does not recover forgotten passwords. For a file that needs a password to open, it tries only the password you type, once, and never guesses.
Which kinds of encryption does it support?
ZIP files protected with WinZip AES (128, 192 or 256 bit) or traditional ZipCrypto, and PDFs protected with RC4 or AES. Each file inside a ZIP is checked against its checksum or authentication code, so a damaged file is reported instead of saved.
What about Word, Excel, 7z or RAR files?
They are not supported. Decrypt files works with PDFs and ZIP files only.
